Women's Forum, Deauville, October 2008 Share progress, dare the future The Women's Forum for the Economy and Society, established in 2005 by Aude Zieseniss Thuin, aims to promote women's perspectives on economic issues and societal current. It is a place discussion, sharing, reflection and action. For its 4th edition in Deauville, 86 countries were represented, with over 1,000 participants, including 200 women in the developing world. India was there to honor, with the arrival of a delegation of 40 Indian women of exceptional women in business, humanitarian, scientific, however ... This year, the Women's Forum devoted his program to Progress, comes in a multitude of workshops on education, diversity, entrepreneurship Social science, technology, politics, but also the global financial crisis. The debates and discussions were divided into three main parts: the individual, work and society, the life sciences and technologies; internationally. I leave you to guess the richness of the discussions, roundtables, consultations, discussions over three days of marathon meetings wealth, intellectual, open-mindedness. As for me, the image that would suit me best is that of a sponge absorbing power limit! The 4th edition of the forum was opened in Beauty on a conversation between journalist Christine Ockrent, Managing Director of the Audiovisual Commission of France and Ingrid Betancourt, Colombian-French politician, freed last July after more than six years of captivity by the FARC. Fear of the future, other, of difference. I would go further: in my view, this fear is often accompanied by fate, pessimism, intolerance. Then Ingrid Betancourt speaks of respect and tolerance, two concepts that seem essential in today's relationships. "We're all the same. We have the same emotions, the same desires. Poor people have the right to desire what we desire, and if we accept that they have that right, then we will think differently. If we have respect for each other, we build a different world. A world where we do not need war to solve our problems, we do not need to kill, then we can talk. Ingrid Betancourt will leave right after this interview, and this seems understandable. I often tell myself that I was born in the right place at the right time. I do not speak of a specific standard of living or a vintage. I speak of a global environment, societal, political, religious, geographical. And now I try to educate my 4 year old daughter to the reality that life is beautiful for We can make it better for others. More broadly, these days, a consensus was reached: the progress ... lets move forward. Obviously, we speak as much quantitative as qualitative. On women: what roles are they expected to play? How gender difference it makes to better address these issues and deal with them? One thing is certain: women's perspectives allows a projection into the future more precise, more empathetic.
